Mathis Nitschke is a composer, sound designer, and music theatre maker. His work operates at the intersection of music, technology, and space. After studying classical guitar, fine arts, and composition (including at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague), he developed his own projects and commissioned works that often explore new formats. These include the operas JETZT<\/em> <\/a>(2012) and HAPPY HAPPY<\/em> <\/a>(2014) for the National Opera of Montpellier, the urban short opera Viola<\/em> <\/a>(2015), and MAYA<\/em> <\/a>(2017), the world\u2019s first mixed-reality music theatre production.<\/p>\n As a composer for film and theatre, he collaborates with artists such as Michel Houellebecq, Luk Perceval, Thomas Jonigk, and Claus Guth. His music has been heard at venues like the Munich Kammerspiele, Schauspiel K\u00f6ln, the Armory Hall in New York, and at international festivals such as Aix-en-Provence and Locarno.<\/p>\n In 2015, he founded Sofilab<\/a> \u2013 a studio for sonic design and artistic research based in Munich.<\/p>\n
